Volume No 11- Supplement 3
Annual meeting of the Tissue and Cell Engineering Society (TCES)
3-4 July 2006, University of Sheffield
Welcome
The University of Sheffield is proud to host the TCES annual meeting
in 2006. This is the first time that the Society has met in Sheffield
and the need for a new venue illustrates a continued increase in
tissue and cell engineering research in the UK. The invitation for
the meeting went out at the beginning of the year to previous members
and attendees of the TCES and was also publicised on the website.
Invited speakers this year include James Kirkpatrick, Chris Jacobs,
Sheila MacNeil, and Sandy Williams.
The committee were interested in attracting oral, poster and oral-poster
presentations that covered new and developing areas in tissue engineering.
Accordingly, we themed the conference across scaffolds and 3-D models,
mechanobiology, translational research, bioreactors, imaging and
emerging topics.
We hope that you enjoyed the scientific sessions and also left
with the impression that TCES is a dynamic society spanning research
at the life-sciences interface. It is intended that the society
supports young researchers to develop their interests and enables
all researchers to interact readily with industry. We also hope
that delegates enjoyed Sheffield as a new venue for TCES.
