eCM council decided to implement an Article Processing Charge (APC) on articles accepted for publication to help cover eCM running costs. eCM offers Gold Open Access to its papers, where articles are immediately available for others to read, download and share (e.g. can be uploaded on ResearchGate). The APC has been set at CHF1000, much lower than journal in the same field (standard Open Access APC for journal's of similar impact factor is between CHF2000 and CHF4000). All papers submitted from July 1st 2018 are liable to the publication fee. eCM is a Not-for-Profit journal and does not make any profit with this system.
